The No Kings protests in San Francisco will likely bring tens of thousands of people to the streets. A lot of events are involved, and it can be a bit confusing (and the Chron has made a point of not giving details of how to participate) so here’s the basics:
The events are all on Saturday/18. Two major protests are set for San Francisco.
At 11am, one group will gather at Stairway 17 at Ocean Beach to form a human banner that will be photographed from the air. The organizers note:
The Internet always feasts on the imagery from these events, and the mainstream press often gorges itself, too. Already in 2025, three events have been featured on ABC, CBS, “NBC Late Night with Seth Myers,” Rachel Maddow, many more. The full list goes on and on, including scores of newspapers on three continents: The San Francisco Chronicle, Guardian, Washington Post, NY Times, LA Times, Irish Times. At noon, No Kings Ocean Beach will hold a rally against Trump and for Prop. 50. That’s at Upper Great Highway and Judah. Info here.
The main march in San Francisco gathers at 1:30 at Sue Bierman Park, right near the Embarcadero Plaza. The march will set off a 2pm, up Market Street to Civic Center, for a 3:30 rally.
Some tips:
Do NOT try to drive to the main march or into the city. There might be parking out on Ocean Beach, but not at Civic Center or the Embarcadero. BART and Muni will be running, but add extra time, because it’s going to be crowded.
Bring signs, and sunscreen and water. Everyone agrees these are peaceful events. If you can’t walk the three miles or so from Embarcadero Center, just show up at Civic Center at 3:30.
