We can’t believe it’s been 52 years since the original Best of the Bay launched in 1974, when the Bay Guardian was the first ever local magazine to ask readers what they loved about living here.
While categories like “Best Fudge,” “Best Fishing,” and “Best Astrologer” have sadly gone by the wayside, you can stlll make your voice heard in dozens of categories like Best Burrito, Best Bookstore Store, Best Drag Show, Best Dive Bar, Best Dance Company, and more! Check out last year’s winners and runners up for inspiration.
This year we’re even bringing some categories you’ve clamored for back, as we return to our roots of honoring the Best people, places, and organizations that making living here the best thing on Earth!
Voting will launch at the beginning of September and winners will be announced in early October—stay tuned by subscribing to our newsletter. Throughout the next two months we will be publishing our Editors’ Picks of special things we’ve loved this year.
