Regal San Francisco party queen La Doña—student, teacher, and preservationist of Latinx traditional music like corrido, bolero, cumbia, and mariachi—brought songs from her new album Corrientes to UC Theater Friday, May 15. A packed house showed that one of 48 Hills favorite performers is still making waves with her feminist-forward vision of preserving classic sounds while spurring listeners to political action. (The album was recorded at the fabulous Women’s Audio Mission, “the only professional recording studios in the world built and run entirely by women and gender-expansive individuals.”)
