A year fraught with tension and anxiety ended on a decidedly festive note for attendees of playful Colombian band Monsieur Periné‘s four-date stopover at SFJAZZ, December 30-January 2 (simulcast through SFJazz’s website). The light-hearted, jazzy outfit mixed Afro-Colombian cumbia and American-inflected salsa through its trademark nostalgic, 1930s cabaret vibe. The crowd was ready for some dynamic sparkle, and Monsieur Periné delivered in typically technicolor style.
