Live Shots: Son Lux spellbinds with Nappy Nina at August Hall

The experimental trio brought out local favorites to complement their otherworldly sound

Oakland MC Nappy Nina‘s inviting energy warmed up the crowd at August Hall on May 13 for bespectacled New York experimental outfit Son Lux, riding high on the stellar success of their Everything Everywhere All at Once score. The show was heavy on atmosphere, complex interplay, and lovely melody lines. Toward the end, special guest Samora Pinderhughes came out to sing a song, and Nappy Nina rapped over a new version of the trio’s “Easy.”
