Live Shots: Kraftwerk leap from their Computerworld in 3D

The foundational German electronic musicians wowed the Bill Graham crowd with whizzing visuals and deep favorites.

The last time German electronic music trailblazers Kraftwerk came through with their brilliant 3D tour was 2014 for three nights at the Fox Theatre—and revered founding member Florian Schneider was still with us. Although Schneider had not toured with the band in quite some time, his digital-analogue spirit floated above cofounder Ralf Hütter, Fritz Hilpert, Henning Schmitz, and Falk Grieffenhagen as they triumphantly returned, this time to Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Wednesday, July 6.

With a recent 3-D The Catalogue box set under their belt showcasing their five decades of output, including gorgeous tracks like “Computer Love,” “The Model,” “Trans-Europe Express,” “Tour de France,” “Numbers,” and “Autobahn,” they had plenty of favorites to choose from, as eye-popping visuals whizzed at the 3D-glasses-wearing crowd.
