More about Corey Harris:

1st show of series: Country blues singer and scholar Corey Harris performs the first of a three-night stand at The Mitch. Corey Harris records and performs country blues with undertones of reggae and folk. When he was an undergrad at Bates College of Lewiston Maine, he was preparing to be a school teacher. He earned a fellowship to study in West Africa, where the music of among others but most specifically Boubecar Traore sent him on a path towards fame and fortune as more a musician than a teacher. Beyond tracing that path, his personal journey includes creative sojourns in Denver, Lewiston, New Orleans and Charlottesville. His Palo Alto debut follows previous appearances (over a 30 year career as griot and troubadour) at places like Yoshi’s and the Freight. Its quite possible although we cannot promise that Corey’s Palo Alto residency will include impromptu pop up appearances—a man, a guitar, a vision—in places like Lytton Plaza.
