Join 48 Hills’ Marke B and author Sarah Schulman at Litquake!

Join us Sun/12 at Counterpulse for a free Tenderloin workshop on 'The Fantasy and Necessity of Solidarity.'

48 Hills is proud to partner with Litquake for this year’s incredible deluge of literary events. Join us Sun/12, 3pm-5pm, at Counterpulse SF for a Tenderloin workshop with author Sarah Schulman and performance troupe Skywatchers! It’s free, but there’s limited space: RSVP here.

For those who seek to combat injustice, solidarity with the oppressed is one of the highest ideals, yet it does not come without complication. In the searing yet uplifting The Fantasy and Necessity of Solidarity, award-winning writer and cultural critic Sarah Schulman delves into the intricate and often misunderstood concept of solidarity to provide a new vision for what it means to engage in this work—and why it matters. Turning our attention to the Tenderloin, we invite you, and local organizations serving the neighborhood, to join us as Sarah discusses her framework and leads us through an informal workshop. Featuring a special performance inspired by the book by Skywatchers, the multi-disciplinary, mixed-ability ensemble that creates work amplifying the Tenderloin neighborhood’s stories. Moderated by 48 Hills’ Marke Bieschke. Doors at 2:30pm. Masks required. FREE, $10-15 suggested donation
