We need you to keep 48 Hills growing and thriving in a decimated independent media landscape

-

When we started 48 Hills 10 years ago, we embarked on a quest to save local, independent media. Since then, the media environment has continued to be decimated by billionaire owners, corporate buy-outs, mainstream chain incursions, and “start-ups” that are really just mouthpieces for even more billionaires.

HELP US MEET $30,000 IN MATCHING FUNDS BY SEPTEMBER 28 AND HELP US SURVIVE AND GROW! DONATE HERE.

What we’ve ACCOMPLISHED, with your support, is grow 48 Hills from a tiny blog into a small-but-strong powerhouse outlet of news reporting, political commentary, and support for local arts and culture. We put every penny you’ve donated back into the local ecosystem by paying local journalists, writers, editors, designers, web hosts, developers, and services. We’ve directed hundreds of thousands of people to emergency funds, local organizations in need, vital arts events, and everything that keeps the soul of San Francisco alive.

When we say “we,” we mean you, too. We couldn’t do this without your support. Our means of survival is not some tech billionaire’s play money or Wall Street-wealthy family dynasty. Ads from local businesses and organizations, non-profit grants, and individual donations are the only things that power 48 Hills. We’re so proud of what we’ve built, and we want to keep growing.

We are calling on our community to step up and help us continue as one of the only independent voices in the Bay Area to tell it like it is, and how it is. Thank you so much for your continued support! Please tell your friends, and subscribe to our daily newsletter if you haven’t already.
