Live Shots: Thee Sinseers and the Altons rode waves of SoCal soul at the Uptown

The Los Angeles modern soul outfit soundtracked the ultimate backyard barbecue with old school style.

Modern soul band The Sinseers, “evocative of their hometown of East LA’s Friday evening cruises, Saturday night backyard boogies, and Sunday afternoon barbecues” slipped smoothly into the Uptown Theatre in Napa on Jan. 26. The Altons, also from LA and soundtracking the barbecue of our dreams, opened with a retro-indie-soul spin. Both powerhouse lineups represent the new wave of SoCal soul.
