Live Shots: The time has come for Midnight Oil

The classic Australian rockers brought their politically charged music to Fox Theatre in what they say is their last tour.

Led by imposing, impressively domed Peter Garrett, Aussie rockers Midnight Oil made some of the most politically charged music of the 1980s, with hits like “Blue Sky Mine” giving voice to aboriginal and environmental concerns. They’re still going strong decades after their 1978, electrifying the Fox Theatre on June 4 like a bolt of outback lightning. Although they say this is their final tour (aptly titled “Resist”) we think they have enough energy for another round or two. Melbourne singer-songwriter Liz Stringer opened up.
