Live Shots: Alkaline Trio brought three decades of punk energy to Masonic

Chicago punk trio Matt Skiba, Dan Andriano, and Atom Willard hit the Masonic stage with nothing to prove after almost three steady decades of Alkaline Trio output, and indelible songs like “Stupid Kid.” But with Willard replacing longtime drummer Derek Grant after his departure last year, the crowd may have been curious to see if the band’s energy had changed. No worries there, Alkaline Trio still whipped up the crowd, looking forward with new album Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs, and opening a sonic portal to the heyday of that rebellious late ’90s and early 2000s sound that still resounds throughout the Bay.
