Live Shots: Gavin Turek’s disco joy caught the light at Brick & Mortar

The Los Angeles performer's maribou catharsis hit just right for her 'loving, beautiful' crowd.

You know who wasn’t ready to give up on happy? Gavin Turek at Brick & Mortar Music Hall on September 25. Clad in a slinky maribou robe that was eventually tossed aside to make way for the sparkling plumes of a be-pearled showgirl number, the modern-day disco diva had the crowd in her jazz hands. Delivering the uplifting tracks of this year’s Diva of the People album, the Los Angeles singer-dancer made good on her mission in front of what she dubbed “a loving, beautiful audience.” “I want to make sure that the energy that is received from this is light and joyful, because I know how powerful music is,” Turek said in a recent interview. Check our documentation for proof.

And can we get a round of applause for the face cards in the crowd as well?
