Live Shots: The Beaches’ post-breakup pop-rock triumph thrills the Fillmore

Powered by a breakout sophomore album, longtime Toronto indie darlings were on their victory lap.

Toronto indie darlings The Beaches have been rocking since they were little ones—really, lead vocalist Jordan Miller and backup guitarist-vocalist Kylie Miller are sisters who have been making music together since even before they linked with guitarist Leandra Earl and drummer Eliza Enman-McDaniel in high school. It’s hard not to root for a band who puts in a decade’s work before it gets its glow-up, as The Beaches have over the last few months, powered by a sophomore album featuring the raging got-mine anthem “Blame Brett.” The group’s victory lap, the Blame My Ex Tour, rolled into the Bay on February 19, placing the quartet on the storied Fillmore stage to the screaming delight of fans.
