Save 48 Hills! It’s tax-deductible :)

Going into an election year, independent media must survive the assault by billionaires, conservatives, and big chains.

-

Dear friends of independent media,

We know it’s that time of year when everyone asks for your support, but this year we really need your help

As one of the very few truly independent media sources left in the Bay Area, we are holding the line—bringing you original breaking news and political analysis that calls out corrupt and shady city operators, pushing back against the billionaires and chains intent on destroying local media and this unique place we love, and fighting for the soul of the city by covering the incredible lively arts scene with hundreds of previews, reviews, interviews, promotions, and in-depth profiles that no one else offers. Going into a heavy election year, we are needed more than ever.

Just as important, we employ dozens of diverse freelance writers, editors, journalists, photographers, designers, and artists, supporting the creative growth of the city while helping them stay here a little longer. Every penny you donate goes back into the local ecosystem.

HELP KEEP US GOING HERE

This year was hard. Due to the economic downturn, we lost a major revenue souce and felt the brunt of competition by a new billionaire-owned outlet determined to silence independent voices and pump up the “doom loop” narrative. While we have the growing support of a number of wonderful new advertisers, subscribers, and readers, and are so proud that we have managed to hang on and even grow during this difficult time, we are facing a cloudy future.

In short, please donate today to keep us going. (It’s tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.) Tell your friends about us. Encourage your favorite businesses to advertise. Ask us about partnering with your big event. You can always reach us at info@48hills.org.

We are determined that our non-profit, independent news model will survive this rough patch if we can continue gaining wider and deeper support from the community. We must hold politicians and City Hall to account for their actions, and we must continue to revitalize the local arts scene.

Thank you for your support!
