We are past “Croptober” and now is the time to sample all the cannabis goodies that have been harvested. My desk is full of weed products from Hall of Flowers in Santa Rosa and entries for the upcoming Puff holiday cannabis gift guide. Yesterday, as I tried to make room for dinner on my table amongst the various jars, envelopes, and doob tubes, I decided I needed a whole shelf or box dedicated to weed.
As I get everything in order here—well, order for a stoner—I have a few recommendations from my first round of sampling of the products I got at Hall of Flowers last month. These items will guarantee you a stoney good time.
One of my favorite products is Mirayo flower from Carlos Santana. Yes, “Black Magic Woman” Carlos Santana, the rock star. Of course, I was intrigued because of the name attached to the label, so I quickly opened my jar of Maui Wowie (sativa, 27% THC, .08% CBD) and was hit by aromatic notes of cat pee and Jack Herer, my favorite sativa. I am happy to say Mirayo hits all the right notes.
I was then invited to a beautiful infused dinner at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley by The Parent Company to celebrate the Mirayo brand. Sitting at the table were jars of weed, including the Mochi Cake (indica, 30% THC, 0% CBD), to sample with our meal. Everyone at my table agreed with me about the Maui Wowie, which kicked off dinner as a pairing suggestion. It was fun watching everyone try the Mochi Cake as they floated off into thought as that indica hit their endocannabinoid systems. Ah, the delights of cannabis! Everyone, including myself, loved the Mochi Cake.
So two thumbs up for Mirayo’s new flower strains and also to The Parent Company for throwing such a fantastic event. Looks like Mirayo is available from Caliva Delivery in San Francisco, and at Caliva and Deli Dispensaries in San Jose for $22 plus tax and fees for both eighths and pre-rolls. Every morning since I opened the brand’s nice packaging, I have been sampling Pearadise (sativa hybrid, 32.7% THC, .19% CBD) from Team Elite Genetics. It hits my buttons for waking and baking. I smoke it, it uplifts me, and I get things done. There is no couch lock here, just a zesty high to match the grapefruit-y and pear notes of the nicely frosted, fluffy flower. It comes from a cross of Peach Ozz and Kosher Kush. There is a store locator on their website. It looks like it’s carried the various Stiiizy dispensaries.
MadLabs concocted a zesty Cosmic Collision (indica, 31% THC, .07% CBD) that I love—it makes me stupid in a good way. I save it until the end of the day, inhale those luxurious terpenes as I chip off a piece of the frosty, firm nug and into my bowl. At this point, it’s time to relax. What usually happens, though, is I get a last minute task to do and spend my time being a stoned ditz. There is a store locator on their website.
You know I love pre-rolls, so of course I dug right into those as soon as I left the Sonoma County Fairgrounds after Hall of Flowers.
The diamond-infused Flyers by Claybourne Co. are primo. I hit their Super Silver Haze joint and ended up in that haze. The Judge, Banana Sherbet, and Strawberry Cream strains were also enjoyed. You get five mini joints per container. I recommend taking a few tokes and then putting the joint out to wait and see how hard it hits. They are creeper and tasty. Be warned.
They range around 53% THC and 0% CBD. The price is $35 plus tax. You can order delivery online, and they have a store locator on their website. Perusing, I see them available at Eaze, Ganja Goddess, SPARC on Polk and many more locally.
For those looking for a little less buzz, look no further than Cowboy Country Light Cannabis pre-rolls. They are lower THC (10-16% THC) and higher in CBD (5-15% CBD) so they are perfect to smoke when you don’t want to get too high.
I have shared these with friends and many said they liked the buzz better because they could continue to be social without getting zonked. I have a habit of getting my friends too stoned, so it has been nice to offer them an alternative. I tried their Durban & Tsunami, Jack Herer & ACDC, Watermelon Rancher & Pineapple Tonic blends and enjoyed them all. The joints are great if you tend to get anxiety from smoking because of the high CBD content. They taste great and burn well. I also like their peel back and reseal packets.
According to their locator, Cowboy Country is available at Eaze, Sava, California Street Cannabis, Fig & Thistle Apothecary and many more dispensaries in the area. The price runs around $27.50 plus tax per pack.
I have a new favorite flavor of gummy, and it is Wyld’s Sour Apple. Sour gummies are a trend right now, and I love me some Green Apple. You get 10 delicious slabs of sugar-coated, tart gummies at 10mg THC each. You can purchase them at most dispensaries for about $25.
