Watch: The devastating impact of Breed’s cruel new homeless sweeps

The mayor's aggressive new policy wreaks havoc on unhoused peoples' lives. We spoke with Frank, one of the displaced.

-

Early morning on Friday at 7:30 am the latest string of sweeps took place at Merlin and Harrison. An RV was towed and about 7 unhoused folks were displaced.

These sweeps are part of Mayor London Breed’s “aggressive” push to dissolve encampments in San Francisco.

I asked Frank, one of the people affected by the sweep on Merlin and Harrison where he is going next. He said further out, and moving from this location makes it harder for access to food and water.

I spoke with David Nakanishi from HSOC who stated they are trying to “offer services and make people’s lives better by getting them off the street.”

If shelters are not meeting the needs of the unhoused and they cannot remain on the streets, then where are they supposed to go?
