Live Shots: The faces and flavors of Foodwise Summer Bash

The Ferry Building came alive with D.R.E.A.M. Donuts, summer corn tartlets, Anchor Steam, and sunny guests

Marke B. writes: One of SF’s most anticipated annual food festivals, the Foodwise Summer Bash, lit up the Ferry Building last Sunday with hundreds of snappily dressed (and hungry) patrons basking in the delicious glow of more than 70 welcoming local Foodwise vendors’ offerings. A host of fun activities, like live screen-printing from Haight Street Art Center, brought the warmth, as did an array of guests’ tropical wear. Cocktails and wine flowed, while a station pouring out Anchor Steam (perhaps for the last time) led to poignant memories of the San Francisco of yore.

Who knew a food fest could bring a tear to the eye? Never fear—there’s always something bright around the bend, and we’re still savoring bites like D.R.E.A.M. Doughnuts’ milk bread doughnut with Brentwood sweet corn mousse, Shared Cultures miso caramel, and masa polvoron dust; Piglet & Co’s Peach Farm tomatoes with buchi silken tofu and nori vinaigrette; and Greens Restaurant’s summer corn tartlets with corn pudding and tomato-corn salsa. Mmmm…

Foodwise hosts the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market and Mission Community Market, as well as local food education programs and activities all year ’round. Check them out: www.foodwise.org.
