A convicted felon who is running for president is slated to hold a fundraiser in San Francisco June 6, hosted by tech billionaire David Sacks and his wife and venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya.
Tickets to the dinner are $300,000 a person and $500,000 for a couple. A mere $50,000 gets you into the reception (but not the dinner).
The invitation doesn’t give a location, but often these private events are held at the home of the sponsor. Sacks recently spent $20 million on a house at 2845 Broadway.
Since Donald Trump has yet to be sentenced, he is free to move about the country, and there’s no indication that his new status as the first president ever convicted of a felony will deter his very wealthy pals from moving ahead with the event.
I have contacted the SF Police Department for information on any possible road closures or blockades, but typically they don’t discuss information about activities involving the secret service, which will have primary jurisdiction in the area.
I believe the last time a top GOP politician was in town for a fundraiser then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy arrived at a house right near where Sacks lives, but it was kept very quiet.
That will be much harder to do when the orange-haired felon with the secret service detail arrives.
