Election night: The Campos surge begins

By Tim Redmond

NOVEMBER 4, 2014 (10:20pm) – The Campos-Chiu race is really tightening up, and the Election Day trend is all Campos – big time.

The Department of Elections can’t handle all the web traffic, which is slowing down the refresh of the results screen, so they’ve posted a PDF of the latest results. It shows:

Of the 8.1 percent turnout so far, Chiu has 32,455 votes and Campos has 25,540. That means of the non-early absentees, Campos has 62 percent of the vote and Chiu only 38.

Now it’s all about turnout, but if this continues, Campos might very well be ahead by the end of the night.
