Democratic Party faces key (and really complicated) vote in Campos-Chiu race

FEB. 7 — A subset of the California Democratic Party meets in Burlingame Saturday to decide on a possible early endorsement of either David Campos or David Chiu for the 17^th state Assembly District.

The support of the party would be a huge boost for either candidate – but the process for winning it is so complex, and the bar so high, that it would be remarkable if either of them won.

On the other hand, I’m told that Campos is far ahead in delegates, and it’s possible (if a long shot) that he could pull off what would be a stunning victory. (more after the jump)
