FIVE THINGS for a crazy Friday night

By Caitlin Donohue

“Hello 2014: A Sci-Fi Art Event” 14 artists from across the North American continent – members of the rad Paint Pens Collective — get wall space at this t-shirt, fashion, art, and jewelry store. Check out laser brandishing cat-headed giants (courtesy Ed Luce of graphic novel Wuvable Oaf fame). You may even get a complimentary can of beer for your hard work supporting the indie art community. 7-11pm, free. D-Structure, 520 Haight, SF. www.shopdsf.com

SF Tape Music Festival Sound nerds, this for you. 24 banging speakers pump out classic sound compositions by François Bayle, Willem de Ridder with The Hafler Trio, and more. Plus, experience “The Sounds of Earth”, the NASA sampler of environmental noise and KISS that has been ejected into space for the future benefit of curious alien beings. 8pm, $8-15 per performance, $35 festival pass. Various showtimes through Jan. 5. Z Below Theater, 470 Florida, SF. www.sfsound.org

San Francisco Bike Party Get goofy to kick off your weekend on a bike with a hundred wackily-outfitted new friends. What’s cute about the Bike Party is that (whenever possible), it obeys traffic laws for its mass rides through city streets, a little more neighborly than running reds, we think. Today is its third anniversary ride, so wear your three year old birthday brights. 7:30pm, free. Meet at Civic Center Plaza, SF. sfbikeparty.wordpress.com

Cut Chemist 1015 Folsom tends to bring the free danceparty game harder than any other club in town. Case in point: tonight’s bash with Jurassic 5’s Cut Chemist, with a cute supporting cast of turntablists like LA’s Them Jeans and more. 9pm-2am, free. RSVP highly recommended. 1015 Folsom, SF. www.1015.com

Some thing Beyonce No haters allowed at this tribute to Queen Bey’s recent pop culture takedown. Queens will be performing every song off the singer’s eponymous album that killed us all in December 2012. It’s going to be everything, to some of us. 10pm-3am, $7. The Stud, 399 Ninth St., SF.
