Tom’s Town: Rain water, sugar water — and a Democratic Party squeaker

By Tom Temprano

It’s raining! Real rain! Not just dense fog, but real rain in the form of droplets of water is finally making its way from the skies onto the parched hills of our city. I haven’t been so happy to see a downpour since the 1998 El Niño storms cancelled classes at Anacapa Middle School!

48hillstomstownUnfortunately, even with this weekend’s rains we are still in the midst of a drought. A really really really bad drought, as evidenced by this article in the UK Guardian that scares the hell out of me.

This means that we have to continue to let our yellow mellow, San Francisco, and perhaps to consider drinking less delicious, refreshing Hetch Hetchy water and instead switching over to sweet sugary beverages before they get taxed away. (more after the jump)
